This Christmas, my friend and I decided to give someone the gift of Instagram. We set up an account for her, gave her a snazzy profile and then handed over the reigns to her new-found life. With 800 million users now on the mobile photo sharing network, Instagram is one of the fastest growing social media platforms out there and rightly so, it's great fun! But, it can be hard to find those feeds you really want to follow, the picture that really is a perfect fit for your life.

Which is why I’ve done some of the hard work for you. Here’s my round up of the best insta-accounts you should be following in 2018:

SurfGirl Magazine @surfgirlmag

There isn’t a post on SurfGirl Magazine that won’t have you reaching for the like button and contemplating your next adventure. Swoon-worthy beaches, year-round tans and the promise of a brighter and better summer in the middle of winter, are all but a click away at any given time. As Islanders we are naturally sea-loving creatures and this feed lets you totally get carried away on the crest of a wave.

Holly Willoughby @hollywilloughby

Even I was taken by surprise at what an unlikely fashion icon Mrs Willoughby has turned out to be. Irrespective of her recent weight loss this year, she continues to drive sales of every outfit she adorns for her gig on This Morning. Her style is as infectious as her personality, showing off her whimsical and humorous outlook. Yes, it is somewhat conservative, but this perhaps is what makes her so appealing - it’s wearable and so easy to replicate. Plus who doesn't love a bit of Holly at Christmas!

Proof that life really does begin at 40, fashion blogger Kat shows us that style really is eternal and that it is possible to be both inspirational and trendy in our middle age and beyond. Watch her balance motherhood with an instinctive love of fashion and turn it into a career. Yes, there's a bit of idolisation here for a blogger looming on 40 herself, but I think Kat is the modern day hero to most fashion lovers in my demographic. I literally can’t wait to hit my 40s with gusto now.

Planking for Pizza @plankingforpizza

I’m as guilty as the next person of loving a bit of gymspiration in my day. Fitness individuals who give you the motivation to take your exercise to that next level. There’s thousands of these waiting to be discovered on Instagram, so its refreshing to find those few who take a fresh outlook on the world. Jess’s journey to find balance in her life and to nourish her mind as well as body has made for a winning combination. The architect-turned-accidental-fitness-guru is totally happy in her body and not afraid to overindulge once in a while. Sometimes I like my inspo with a dash of reality, since the best thing for your body is clearly a bit of self-love.

Grace Hurry Pilates @gracehurrypilates

The sheer bendiness of Grace Hurry make her videos hypnotising. I compare her mesmerising flows to those cooking sequences on Facebook, where you have no choice but to see what the end result is! Except her finale is usually the splits, or flinging her legs behind her head. Watch her downward dog around the world, achieving mind-blowing poses you could only hope to emulate. I wanted to throw a little bit of Jersey into the mix and whilst she is not a Jersey native, she is returning to the Island in 2018 along with her 63K followers. Follow her, stalk her, sign up to her classes!

Temperley @temperleylondon

Because I literally wince every time one of their dresses pops up on my mobile. Why wasn’t I born with a trust fund? Why can’t I be famous enough to don just one of their masterpieces? A show stopping mass of sequins, colour and feminine silhouettes has paraded itself in front of me over Christmas, leaving me lusting for Temperley's Spring/Summer collection. Many designers produce dazzling clothes, but this feed to me is just blowing them all out of the water at the moment. Oh, to dream the dream….

These are my top picks but I'm always exploring and stumbling upon other gems. Help me out and let me know which are your favourites instas to follow?
